It is important to understand that taking a design for a metal component and making it in composite is not the correct path to follow, this is inefficient and expensive. A fresh look at the product should be taken and each item designed from the outset with composites in mind. This will give a product the same, or higher rigidity and stiffness with a considerable saving of weight.
The cost of composite moulding would appear high, but with properly designed components, little post-moulding work is needed be done, saving a large amount of machining and finishing time involved in making the same shape in metal. Carbon Technology also machine mouldings, we specialise in routing, drilling, reaming, countersinking, threading and grinding of mouldings, sheet and tubes. We can fit inserts, metal or composite fittings and any form of attachments onto or into mouldings.
CNC machining and assembly of components can all be done in house, this is part of our philosophy of keeping costs under control and maintaining a high standard of quality.
Drawings Files and Data
We can take drawings, from a simple sketch with dimensions, to CAD files in many formats or use our in house design service to produce the programmes to machine the components you require. The most cost effective format is Auto Cad 14 DXF or DWG as these can loaded straight into the machine with little additional design work.
